L-Carnitine is a type of B vitamin that is structured like an amino acid, which is why some people also categorize it as an amino acid. Its main role is to help transport long-chain fatty acids for energy. This prevents the accumulation of fat in the heart, liver and skeletal muscles. Synthetic carnitine is available in three forms: levocarnitine, dextrocarnitine and racemic, with levocarnitine being the more effective. L-Carnitine is a compound with a variety of physiologically active functions. Its main function is to promote fatty acid β-oxidation, and it also regulates the ratio of acyl groups in the mitochondria and affects energy metabolism. L Carnitine can participate in the transport of branched-chain amino acid metabolites, thus promoting the normal metabolism of branched-chain amino acids. In addition, L-Carnitine plays a role in the elimination and utilization of ketone bodies, acts as a biological antioxidant to scavenge free radicals, maintains membrane stability, and improves the immunity as well as disease and stress resistance of animals.

Function and Application:
1.L-Carnitine, as a new type of nutritional fortifier, especially as an additive in infant formula, food for athletes and diet and fitness food, has been more widely used in functional foods. As commercial products, L-Carnitine is mainly its hydrochloride salt, tartrate salt and magnesium citrate salt.
2. L-Carnitine plays an important role in the metabolic process of infants using fat as a source of energy. Since the biosynthesis capacity of L-Carnitine in infants is weak, it cannot meet their normal metabolic needs, and therefore exogenous L-Carnitine must be ingested in order to ensure that the fat in the body is in an optimal oxidized state and to provide enough energy to maintain the normal body temperature of infants. In addition, L-Carnitine base has a certain promotion effect on the growth and development of infants and young children and improves the metabolic balance.
3. After strenuous exercise, the concentration of free carnitine in human muscle tissue will decrease by 20%. Supplementation of carnitine can improve the fatigue of the body because L-Carnitine promotes fat oxidation in the body and provides sufficient energy for the body, which is conducive to the enhancement of sports endurance and explosive power. A common method is to add L-Carnitine to athletes' drinks for fortification.
4. L-Carnitine is widely used in weight loss and bodybuilding food. L-Carnitine-fortified food has a better effect on fat metabolism disorders in the body due to the lack of carnitine, and it can prevent obesity, fatty liver and other diseases caused by the accumulation of lipids in muscle fiber and liver. Therefore L-Carnitine powder raw material is quite popular in the market. L Carnitine powder include L-Carnitine tartrate and L-Carnitine Fumarate.
